Water Sports

From May to mid July SunSports can provide Water Sports holidays at various locations on the Costa Brava, an ideal way to end the school term.
SunSports, offer Water Sports activities on the spectacular beach of Sant Pol, just a short 10 minute transfer from our favourite resort of Platja d'Aro.
Participants choose 5 activities from;
OPTIMIST,
HOBIE CAT,
KAYAK,
SNORKELING,
MOUNTAIN BIKE or
WINDSURFING

Play Volleyball on the beach or add a Banana Boat ride for a bit of extra fun. There is also the possibility of a day trip to Water World and an optional visit to Barcelona and FC Barcelona's famous Camp Nou.

Rugby Tours to Barcelona

A typical rugby tour consists of one training session on a turf or "new generation" astro pitch and 2 fixtures. The training session is usually a 1.5 hour morning session and helps acclimatize the players.

The rugby fixtures are as follows; two games against Spanish or French opposition and one against another visiting UK team if available.
Depending on the time of year, matches are played in the evening or late afternoon, leaving the day free for other activities.

The games are 1 hour long, with rolling subs so everybody gets time to play. Age groups and pitch dimensions are those stipulated by the Federacio Catalana de Rugby. Referees are officials from the Collegi de Arbitros de Rugby and you are sometimes required to help as touch judges. In the case of a player being sent off, another player is allowed to take his or her place.

Matches are played against local clubs. The rugby fixtures are usually in the Barcelona area, although sometimes we visit French teams just across the border. The local clubs act as hosts.

Matches between English schools are played on pitches in Girona, the local capital. Schools and clubs should apply to their relative associations for permission to play abroad. This ensures that the matches are regarded as official by both countries. We recommend that you bring a pennant or other souvenir of your rugby club to give to the opposition.

Netball Coaching on the Costa Brava

SunSports organise Netball clinics for schools and clubs with AENA registered coaches, based in Platja d'Aro and Lloret, about 100km north of Barcelona.

The Netball takes place outside, weather permitting, or indoors if it's TOO hot ! The coaching is done together with other groups in resort and takes the format of a morning and an afternoon session on two days, ie 4 sessions. Extra sessions can be arranged if required.

On the last day there is an all day tournament between all the teams present in resort. Fixtures against local, Spanish, opposition are still not available.

Soccer Tours to the Costa Brava

A typical football tour includes a one and a half hour training session, up to 3 football fixtures, two games against Spanish or non-UK opposition and one against another visiting UK team if available and a full day out to Barcelona with a visit to the famous CAMP NOU stadium.

Girl’s football is 7 or 11-a-side, depending on the age group. Please make sure you have the correct information if you are booking through a UK operator.

Matches are played against local clubs in the Girona area, although sometimes we combine a fixture with a day out to Barcelona. In the case of a player being sent off, another player is allowed to take his or her place.

PERFORMING ARTS. DRAMA, ART, DANCE & MUSIC

SunSports can provide all that you need to carry out your own, personalised, tour. Studio space, tutors, performance locations, musical instruments, exhibitions; we will supply as much or as little as you need. Your tour can be an extension of the course work you are following in the UK, or you can try something completely new:
FLAMENCO
Available in 2 formats; a course of 5 x 1.5 hour sessions or a taster session of 2 hours which can be combined with other activities. The classes are given by the lead "bailaor" of a local dance troupe and you have the possibility of seeing one of their performances as an extra evening activity. SALSA
Although not originally Spanish, this music does have Hispanic origins and has become very popular throughout Europe and North America. The large numbers of South Americans who have moved to Spain over the years have brought this music to the foreground here. Classes are given by a local Cuban dancer.
ART
There is no limit to the possibilities for Art workshops here. Ceramics, photography, painting or "sand sculpting" are all readily available. A myriad of possible locations should provide enough subject matter to take home a complete dossier. And if you need any more inspiration, you can even spend a day visiting Dali's home and workshop.
MUSIC
Again, back up your syllabus work or try some classical Spanish guitar tuition. Why not put on a performance in the hotel or other local venue?
DRAMA
Clowning, classic, mime, street theater, mask making...we have UK tutors who can work with your group, first at home and then here. Come in February and take part in the local CARNAVAL ! You can enter your troupe officially in the street parade, or "freelance" as a sideshow. You can also take part in the various fancy dress competitions taking place and the solemn ceremony of "burying the sardine"....
